After cancelling last year’s event because of COVID-19, the annual West Region Self Advocacy Conference is back and better than ever- and this year, we’re going virtual! Don’t miss your chance to part of the 17th West Region Self-Advocacy Conference!

Self advocacy is an international civil rights movement started by and for people with disabilities. In 1978, groups of adults with disabilities came together in the West Region of Massachusetts to build a movement towards deinstitutionalization and full realization of equal rights. For 42 years in Western Massachusetts, self-advocates have added to the richness of our community by recognizing a need for change and calling for action. 18 years ago, self advocates in Western Massachusetts decided to spread their message further by hosting the first West Region Self Advocacy Conference. This event brought self advocates from across New England together to share knowledge and stories, collaborate to create change, and recognize one another’s efforts and accomplishments. This event has become an annual tradition that is attended by up to 150 people each year.
